President Mike Parente has asked to communicate that effective immediately all participation by USW members in Compliance Teams will end for now.  This is in response to recent actions by the Company Negotiating Committee.

Participation and all activity related to Safety Committees and Initiatives will continue.  The Union's stance is that safety affects the well-being of our membership and requires our continued involvement.

First off, we want to report that the lunch rally was a great success and an excellent show of unity.  So much so that Friday, April 30th, we are going to do it again.  Same rules/protocol apply.  Read the previous two alerts/updates on this webpage for more specific information.

The rally at the Best Western (site of Negotiations) was also a smash hit with numerous members attending in a stunning show of Solidarity.  What's more the Company negotiatiors felt our presence.

As of this writing the ratification meeting is still on for Monday, May 3rd, at the North Penn High School unless you hear otherwise.  (Any change will be posted on this website).  Doors open at 6PM.

Finally, another CAT letter, hot off the presses, will be available Friday, April 30th.  The letter is a passionate response by the Negotiating Committee to a Company letter distributed on Thursday, April 29th.  Do not believe the content of the Company letter.  See your CAT Team Rep, your Shop Steward, or stop by the Union Office for our reply to this shallow attempt to circumvent the Negotiating Committee.  Stay tuned for further updates.

Today - April 29th and Tomorrow - April 30th we are asking members to join in a show of Solidarity in the Bldg. 53 and 38 cafeterias during their lunch break for one half hour only wearing their USW t-shirts and bearing their USW car signs.  We also have a rally scheduled today at the Best Western after your day shift to support the Negotiating Committee during these troubling contract talks.  See below alert for how to conduct oneself during these vigils/rallys.

CAT Team letters are now available in the union office, through your CAT Team Rep, or through your Shop Steward.

We are asking members to make a show of Solidarity for the Negotiating Team tomorrow during your lunch break.  We ask members to wear their Solidarity T-Shirts and to bring their car signs to either the Bldg. 53 or 38 cafeterias tomorrow, Thursday, April 29th, and simply stand about for one half hour only.  This request is being made because the Negotiating Committee feels that the Company posture during contract talks continues to be less than positive.  We ask that no one harass or speak to anyone during these half hour vigils, be on your best behaviour, do not obstruct entrances or exits, etc., etc., etc.  Stay tuned for another Solidarity Alert for Friday, April 30th, as well as a possible showing at the Best Western where negotiations are taking place.

A new CAT Team letter should be available tomorrow, April 29th and will include Picket Duty instructions and Frequently Asked Questions during a strike.
