Sisters & Brothers,
The Union is pleased to announce a new service that will be available to our members beginning on August 1st at no cost to our members. The Union has added Guardian Nurses Mobile Care Coordinator services to our current medical plan. The Union will now have a full-time nurse that will be available to all of our members and dependents to help them navigate through healthcare issues. This nurse will be available to assist our members in a variety of ways moving forward including, but not limited to the following:
- Visit you at home or in the hospital to assess your care needs.
- Go with you to see doctors, to ask questions and get answers.
- Be your Guide, coach and advocate for any healthcare issues.
- Make appointments so you can be seen as quickly as possible.
- Identify Providers for all care needs and second opinions.
- Assist you in getting you the things you need, such as healthcare equipment as covered by our medical plan.
- Provide support regarding your treatments or surgery decisions.
- Explain a new diagnosis, to help you make informed decisions.
The Union fought hard, for a number of years, to obtain these services and we are now fortunate enough to have them for membership. There will be a mailer coming to your home explaining these benefits so please take the time to read it and see if you could benefit from this service. The Guardian Nurses flyer is also attached to this email as well. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to one of your medical trustees (Kevin McCafferty, Dan Peterson, Gary Holland) and we can explain this service in greater detail.
In Solidarity,
