Monday Morning Member Spotlight

Written on 10/08/2023

This week, our member spotlight focuses on Katie D’Hulster, and here’s her story:

I started at Merck in 1999, not knowing anything about unions. Over the years, I have learned to appreciate what our Union has to offer. To name a few, job security, safety being an important factor in our work environment, great wages, benefits, pension, and the opportunity to always fight for better and more. I’ve also learned that it’s not just our leadership that makes us a strong union; it’s also all of our members, especially when sticking together.

Outside of Merck, what makes me the happiest in my life is my family: my husband and our two sons. Ian is 21 and in his last year at Temple, and Kyle is 19, starting his first year at MCCC. They are my world, my heart, my everything—my life! ❤️ We also have a 12-year-old Golden Shadow. We live locally in Skippack, and we love this area! I also love to hike, read, enjoy happy hour, engage in anything self-help related, socialize, and relax on my deck!

This Union job has given my family a fantastic life and many opportunities. We love to travel, hang out with our friends, see our favorite band Ween whenever we get the chance, and live life to the fullest. My husband and I are so grateful for the life we have because of the jobs we have and the people in it. ❤️ Thank you to everyone who is so kind and friendly, who have included me at work and in their lives outside of work. The positive acquaintances and friendships I’ve made since I started and continue to make, I value because this is who I spend a lot of my time with, working 40+ hours a week.

Thank you to Jimmy Ford and The Communications Committee for introducing us to our fellow members every week in the Monday Morning Member Spotlight posts. Maybe one day we’ll be able to leave positive comments about our fellow members. 😊 I hope everyone has a great day!
