This week we are going to spotlight a member from our Maintenance and Utilities side of the plant site. Here is  the story of Daron Derr. I am a third-generation sheet metal worker from Local #19 in Philadelphia, where I spent 23 years as a foreman. In 2010, I joined Merck and became a USW member, although I have been on the plant site since 1990. What I appreciate most about being in the union is the valuable skills, training, and friendships that develop. The union offers various groups and committees you can engage with if you choose.

I've been a shop steward for 10 years in Dept 57302. Outside of work, I enjoy summers at our home, entertaining neighbors by our pool, playing cornhole, and listening to music. During winter, we delight in taking cruises for our vacations.

Activities I relish include golfing, hunting, bowling, and attending car shows. I have a passion for good bourbon and cigars. Additionally, I'm a proud member of the Pottstown Elks Club #814 and the Boyertown Orioles Nest #22.
