Monday Morning Member Spotlight.

This week, we're delighted to introduce Steven J. Reed, a highly active and passionate member of our Local. Without further ado, let's get to know him better.

Hello Everyone!

I'm Steven J. Reed. Those closest to me understand the significance of the 'J,' representing my late Grandfather and my pop, Joe Reed (retired from our Union just a few years ago) Currently serving as the VP of the Union, I have held the position of Financial Secretary for two terms, been a board member at Large for 2 terms, and served as a shop steward for 18 of my 21 years here at Merck.

My journey with Merck began while growing up in Lansdale, where I often marveled at how fortunate  those were by working here. After marrying, my wife Brianne and I moved to Pennsburg and later to Gilbertsville. My Union involvement started over 21 years ago when I accepted a service job as a 2nd generation USW worker at Merck. Within a year, my coworkers encouraged me to run for shop steward, recognizing my willingness to stand up for what's right.

For approximately 15 years, I've been part of the CHR committee, chairing the newly formed organizing committee for the last 5 years. Additionally, I've contributed to the job evaluation committee over the past year, advocating for better compensation for our members.

Outside the workplace, I cherish moments with my beautiful wife Brianne and our two children, Josh (18) and Sydney (15). They truly complete my life. My interests extend to travel (been to Mexico 20 times), sports (playing and coaching), dining out, playing poker, and passionately supporting Philly sports teams.

A point of pride for me is always being available to assist our members. Feel free to stop me, say hi, or ask any questions – I'd love to connect with more of our wonderful members!

Thank you for reading.
