USW 2025 CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS

Brothers & Sisters, 

                 As we progress through our 2025 contract negotiations we want to keep the membership informed every step of the way. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible throughout this process, ensuring you know when negotiations are happening and how we’re advocating for you at the bargaining table.

The Company has  scheduled 18 negotiation sessions with the USW on the following dates:

February 11 & 12, February 25 & 26, March 11 & 12,March 24,25 & 26 and April 15,16,17,22,23,24,28,29 and 30. Our current collective bargaining agreement expires on April 30th.

As negotiations progress, we will provide updates through our CAT Team flyers and Protext to keep you informed about key developments. If you have NOT signed up for ProText please text the keyword USW1086 to *77820 and follow the prompts.Your support and solidarity are what make us strong, and together, we will work toward a fair and equitable contract.

Hugh Carcella Scholarship

Sisters and Brothers –

We just received the Hugh Carcella Scholarship Applications from District 10. If you’re an active member and have a child that will be attending college this Fall, please stop by the building 1 union office, and pick up an application. Your child must fully complete the application, and it must be handed back in to the union office in building 1 no later than May 9th, 2025.

We need to sign, stamp, and mail all applications back to the District office by their May 15th deadline (Please note – Don’t be confused by the white sticker on the Application that reads MAY 15th. That is the date the application is due back at the District Office).

February Union Meeting

We had a fantastic turnout at tonight’s February union meeting! Valuable information was shared by various committee chairs about what’s ahead for events and activities in 2025. Important union business was discussed, and members had the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers.
Tomorrow, our local Negotiating Committee meets with Merck to begin the first day of 2025 contract negotiations.This is a crucial moment for all of us, and your support is greatly appreciated.
Let’s stand together and fight for the contract we deserve!

 

 

Car Signs for Pick Up

Good morning USW Sisters & Brothers,

Just a quick reminder that negotiations start Tuesday 11FEB, and as we move into this critical time, it’s important that we stand strong and show our unity.

The car signs (see attachment) are available for pickup in the conference room at the Union Office. We have enough for every member to get one, so Shop Stewards, please start picking them up and helping distribute them for your areas to the people you represent.

This is a simple but powerful way to demonstrate our solidarity and strength as negotiations begin.

A visible, united front sends a clear message: we are engaged, we are united, and we are standing together. Let’s do our part to keep the momentum going.

USW Civil and Human Rights Scholarship

The United Steelworkers Civil and Human Rights Scholarship Fund is a vital resource that directly supports the children of our members by providing financial assistance for their education. Higher education costs continue to rise, creating significant financial barriers for many families. This scholarship helps defray that burden. By investing in the education of our members’ children, we are not only strengthening their future but also reinforcing the values of equality, opportunity, and solidarity that define our union. A scholarship will help the student focus on their studies, ultimately setting them up for success and financial stability in the long run.

January 15th USW T-Shirt hand out day

Sisters, Brothers, and Siblings –
Wednesday, January 15th is our USW T-SHIRT Pickup Day. Members of the Organizing Committee will be in the building 38 cafeteria from 7:00am to 5:30pm to distribute shirts. Please refer to the attached flyer for additional details.
As we prepare for the 2025 contract negotiations, these shirts will serve as a key symbol of solidarity during calls to action, demonstrating our unity and support for the negotiating committee. Solidarity, engagement, and activism are the cornerstones of a successful contract negotiation. Let’s make it a priority to pick up your shirt on the 15th and continue standing together to show the strength of our union.

USW WOMEN OF STEEL CHRISTMAS PARTY

WOMEN OF STEEL USW LOCAL 10-00086 ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN
Once again, we had the incredible opportunity to bring joy and smiles to the faces of underprivileged children through our annual Christmas party! It was a day filled with laughter, love, and the spirit of giving, and we couldn’t have done it without the generosity of the wonderful members of our union USW local 10-00086, our community and the tireless efforts of our dedicated volunteers. We were able to sponsor 72 Children!!!
We are immensely grateful to our Union Brothers, Sisters and Siblings who provided an array of wonderful gifts that lit up the eyes of every child present. From toys to clothing, each present was a token of love that reminded these kids they are valued and cherished. Your contributions filled their hearts with the magic of Christmas.
A special thank you goes out to our volunteers, whose hard work and enthusiasm transformed our event into a memorable experience. Your selfless dedication ensured that every child felt special and included, creating a warm atmosphere of joy and camaraderie.
As we reflect on the success of this event, let’s carry forward this spirit of giving and kindness throughout the year. January Union meeting

Sisters, Brothers, and Siblings –

The January Membership Meeting will be held next Tuesday, January 14th, 5pm @ the Empress Room Banquet Hall (1489 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA. 19422). Please plan to attend as we will be taking the Strike Vote. The Strike Vote authorizes the Negotiating Committee to strike on your behalf if we are unable to reach a satisfactory agreement with the company. Please see the attached meeting flyer.
